There is no delay in the processing of applications under the Capital Investment Entrant Scheme, Secretary for Security Ambrose Lee says, adding that existing manpower is sufficient to cope with the workload.

Responding to media reports there is a heavy backlog of applications, Mr Lee said 90% were finalised within six weeks upon receipt of all necessary documents.

He said the Immigration Department's Other Visas & Permits Section is responsible for processing the applications and four Immigration Officer Grade staff and one civilian are doing the job.

"Existing manpower is sufficient to cope with the workload. Where necessary, the department will flexibly deploy additional manpower to process applications according to the situation."

Since the scheme's launch, the department has received 764 applications. Except for 145 still being processed, the processing of all other applications has been completed.
