Total exports up 32.4% in January

In January, the volume of Hong Kong's re-exports of goods rose 33.6% over same month last year, while that of domestic exports rose 13.4%. Taken together, the volume of total exports rose 32.4%. The volume of imports rose 32.4%.

 

The Census & Statistics Department said the prices of re-exports rose 2.4%, and those of domestic exports rose 5.1%. Taken together, the prices of total exports rose 2.6%, while imports grew 4.2%.

 

Comparing the three months ending January with the same period last year, the volume of re-exports rose 19.8%, and that of domestic exports rose 5.2%, giving an 18.8% rise total exports. The volume of imports rose 14.6%.

 

Comparing the three-month period ending January with the preceding three months on a seasonally-adjusted basis, the volume of total exports rose 6%.

 

Within this total, the volume of re-exports rose 6.6%, while that of domestic exports fell 3.1%. Concurrently, the volume of imports rose 4.1%.
