Tenders invited for Wetland Park operation

*
Agriculture, Fisheries & Conservation Department

The Agriculture, Fisheries & Conservation Department invites tenders for the operation and management of Hong Kong Wetland Park.

Parties with relevant experience and expertise should make submissions by noon on March 11.

The Government aims to find a single contractor who can provide:

* exhibition management;

* facilities management and day-to-day operations;

* marketing;

* education; and

* habitat and wildlife management.

The contractor can be a single company, a joint venture or a consortium. Tenderers can also submit proposals in support of any one or more than one of the individual service areas. Proposals for individual services will be considered only when a single contractor can not be successfully identified.

Tender forms and supplementary information are available on-line at www.hkwetlandpark.net.

Submissions should be addressed to the Chairman, Central Tender Board and placed in the Government Secretariat Tender Box situated in the lift lobby on the lower ground floor of the Central Government Offices, East Wing, before noon on March 11.

The objective of the Hong Kong Wetland Park is to create a visitor attraction of international status, catering for locals and visitors to appreciate wetland wildlife and ecology.

Its first phase has been opened to the public since December, 2000, serving as an early venue for publicity and promotion on wetland conservation.

The second phase, comprising a 10,000 square-metre visitor centre and a 60-hectare wetland reserve, is a new eco-tourism initiative to showcase the functions and values of wetlands.

The entire project is scheduled for completion in early 2006.
