Business receipts of almost all service industries increased in value terms in the third quarter compared with a year earlier, the Census & Statistics Department says.

Business receipts of the hotel and transport industries increased 26.5% and 23.4%, according to the department's provisional business receipts indices.

The increase in the hotel industry's business receipts was attributable to the growth in inbound tourism, while that of the transport industry was attributable to the growth in maritime and air transport business.

Other service industries recording increases in business receipts included the storage (+16.5%), insurance (+15.6%), financing (except banking) (+15.2%), import/export trade (+11.4%), restaurants (+8.2%), real estate (+8.1%), wholesale and retail trade (+7.4%) and business services (+6.6%).

Analysed by service domain, business receipts of the tourism, convention and exhibition services domain in the third quarter increased 14.4% over a year earlier.

Tech services see 23% increase

Business receipts of the computer and information services domain increased 23% in the third quarter over a year earlier.

Compared with the second quarter, there were more service industries with increases in business receipts than those with decreases.

Larger increases in business receipts were recorded in the real estate (+19.4%), transport (+11.3%) and import/export trade (+11.2%) industries.
