IP seminars staged in Shaoguan, Shunde
*
intellectual property

A seminar aimed at strengthening co-operation between Hong Kong and Guangdong on intellectual property matters was held in Shaoguan on November 29, and another will be held in Shunde on December 1.

Director of Intellectual Property Stephen Selby said the seminars, similar to the one organised in Dongguan in May, are another element in the co-operation between the two jurisdictions on promoting intellectual property protection.

The two seminars, each with more than 200 participants from various industries and government administrations, are intended to show small and medium enterprises in both regions how to use intellectual property as a tool for wealth creation.

"We shall grasp the opportunities brought about by the Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement to further explore co-operation between Hong Kong and Guangdong in the areas of trade in services and intellectual property," Mr Selby said.

Shaoguan is an important heavy-industry city in Guangdong and Shunde is a well-known home appliance and furniture processing and manufacturing centre in the Pearl River Delta. Many Hong Kong enterprises have already established strong links or investment bases in these areas.
