In its third meeting today, the Economic & Employment Council Subgroup on Business Facilitation received a report from the Environmental Protection Department on a Regulatory Impact Assessment of the proposed Product Responsibility Scheme on waste vehicle tyres and dry rechargeable batteries.
Members are generally supportive of a voluntary scheme operated by industry for dry rechargeable batteries.
Members were briefed by Government officials on the licensing and premises-related requirements for operation of residential care homes for the elderly and measures taken to facilitate the operation of private elderly homes.
There were discussions on how the Government can help improve the business-friendliness of the industry.
The subgroup considered the concerns of different disciplines of the entertainment industry and agreed to the need to review cinema licensing and Places of Public Entertainment licensing on theme parks.
The subgroup noted that dedicated task forces have been set up to oversee the reviews of regulatory activities relating to the construction and retail trades and specific work programmes have already been developed.
