High-level CEPA meeting set for Friday
*

Financial Secretary Henry Tang and Ministry of Commerce Vice Minister An Min will chair the Joint Steering Committee High Level Consultation under the Mainland & Hong Kong Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement in Beijing Friday.

The meeting will discuss further liberalisation measures on trade in goods and services under CEPA's second phase.

Tomorrow, Mr Tang will join Guangzhou Mayor Zhang Guangning to officiate at a briefing on the province's social and economic development at the Convention & Exhibition Centre.

The event, to be held from 9.30am, is organised by the Guangzhou Municipal People's Government. It will be followed by a CEPA investment forum.

Since CEPA's full implementation on January 1, the two sides have held high-level and senior official meetings to broaden the arrangement's scope.

It has adopted a building-block approach and provided a mechanism for further liberalisation measures. Both sides have agreed that CEPA's content will be enriched through continuous discussion.
