A scheme which caters for projects that foster the culture, greater appreciation and adoption of design, and honouring excellence in local design, has been launched. The first round of applications will close September 15.
The Innovation & Technology Commission said today the General Support Scheme aims to promote and honour design excellence in Hong Kong. Applications are normally invited on a quarterly basis.
Eligible parties, including local academic institutes, industry support organisations, trade and industry associations, professional bodies, research institutes and companies, can apply. The projects can be conferences, seminars, exhibitions, competitions and awards.
The General Support Scheme is one of the four funding schemes under the Design Support Programme of the DesignSmart Initiative. The other three are the Design-Business Collaboration Scheme, Design Research Scheme and Professional Continuing Education Scheme.
Applications will be invited mid-September.
Apart from the Design Support Programme, the DesignSmart Initiative also covers the setting up of an InnoCentre.
