Secretary for Commerce, Industry & Technology John Tsang will depart for Guangzhou this evening to attend the Pan-Pearl River Delta Trade Fair to be held from July 14 to 16.
Mr Tsang will lead a delegation of more than 200 representatives from major business organisations, the HK Trade Development Council and the Government. They will take part in the business seminars and exhibitions to be held during the fair.
Mr Tsang will officiate at the grand opening ceremony of the trade fair on Wednesday morning. He will witness the signing ceremony for the Memorandum of Co-operation on foreign trade and economics among the nine Pan-PRD provinces and regions and the two special administrative regions, Hong Kong and Macau.
Deputy Secretary for Commerce, Industry & Technology Raymond Young will represent the Hong Kong Government in signing the memorandum with representatives of the other nine provinces/regions and Macau.
Mr Tsang will also take the opportunity to visit the Hong Kong Pavilion set up by the Trade Development Council at the exhibition section of the trade fair. He will host a lunch for the leaders of the nine Pan-PRD provinces/regions and Macau as well as the Hong Kong business delegates.
In the afternoon, he will attend the joint press conference with leaders of the nine Pan-PRD provinces/regions and Macau.
Mr Tsang will return to Hong Kong Wednesday evening.
