Q1 machinery exports up 9.3%

The value of domestic exports classified into the machinery, equipment, apparatus, parts and components industry rose $300 million or 9.3% in the first quarter to $3.6 billion.

 

The Census & Statistics Department said the value of exports in the consumer electrical and electronic products industry also rose 7.1% to $2.3 billion.

 

However, the value of exports in the textiles industry fell 8.7% to $5.7 billion and the wearing apparel industry fell 6.5% to $7.1 billion.

 

These four major industries accounted for 73% of Hong Kong's total domestic exports of manufactured goods.

 

As for other manufacturing industries, a notable increase was registered for the value of domestic exports classified to the basic metals and fabricated metal products industry, by 25.9% to $1 billion.
