Asia's world city: The five core values of the Hong Kong brand - free, stable, progressive, high quality and opportunity - and photos illustrating these values are printed on the body of  the four buses.

Four single-decker buses sporting Brand Hong Kong's well-known flying dragon have begun plying Kuala Lumpur's city streets. The aim is to promote Hong Kong as Asia's world city in the Malaysian capital.

The five core values of the brand - free, stable, progressive, high quality and opportunity - and photos illustrating these values are also printed on the body of  the four buses. They will will shuttle tens of thousands of passengers in Kuala Lumpur and nearby towns every day. Malaysians and tourists visiting Kuala Lumpur will be able to see the Brand Hong Kong buses from now until the middle of July.

"The Brand Hong Kong programme, and our visual identity, will serve to illustrate that the spirit of dynamism and openness that has made Hong Kong so successful remains a key asset of our community," said the Director of the HK Economic & Trade Office in Singapore, Rex Chang.

"The new visual identity - a stylised dragon - is a modern design which communicates Hong Kong's link to an historical and cultural icon," he said. "The body of the dragon includes the Chinese characters for 'Hong Kong' and the letters 'H' and 'K'. This dual expression symbolises a blend of East and West that characterises Hong Kong. The dragon's smooth, fluid shape imparts a sense of movement and speed, communicating that Hong Kong is forever changing.

"I hope when people see the dragon and think of Hong Kong, they will understand what we stand for and represent: a progressive, free and stable society; a place of opportunity; a community and economy that aims for the highest quality in all it does."

The long-term aim is to stamp Hong Kong as Asia's world city, using the brand to provide global audiences with lasting impressions of Hong Kong the city, its people and its wealth of advantages. As the gateway to the mainland of China as well as the hub for business in the Asia-Pacific region, Hong Kong represents unlimited potential and unsurpassed opportunity.
