Hong Kong and Macao signed an Air Services Arrangement today aimed at promoting the long-term development of air services between the two places.
Effective immediately, airlines on both sides will enjoy equal opportunity to operate scheduled services between Hong Kong and Macau.
Representing the two Governments at the signing ceremony were Hong Kong's Secretary for Economic Development & Labour Stephen Ip and Macau's Secretary for Transport & Public Works Ao Man Long.
Mr Ip said he is delighted that the two Special Administrative Regions have concluded the arrangement, adding that this is an important milestone in the development of air services between Hong Kong and Macau.
He said Hong Kong and Macau have strong economic, trade, tourism and other links and the demand for air services has been growing steadily in recent years.
"The conclusion of the arrangement will help to strengthen our linkages and co-operation in various sectors and promote the economic development of both Hong Kong and Macau," Mr Ip added.
