Cyberport

Nicholas Yang has been appointed the Cyberport Management Company's executive head, taking over from Cyberport Co-orindator Betty Fung.

Company chairman John Strickland said he is confident Mr Yang's extensive experience in the technology and business fields will ensure that Cyberport attains its mission.

Mrs Fung, a career civil servant on secondment to the company since October last year, will return to the Government.

Speaking on his appointment, Mr Yang said Cyberport is Hong Kong's IT flagship under the Digital 21 Strategy.

"I am honoured to take up the challenge to build Cyberport as an international IT Centre and to develop Hong Kong as the leading digital city in Asia," he said.

Born in Taiwan in 1955, Mr Yang was educated in the US and has worked in Hong Kong for the last 20 years.

He worked as Shell Electric Manufacturing (Holdings) Executive Director from 1983 to 1999, JDS Uniphase Corporation Vice President from 1999 to 2002, and last year he was a senior consultant with Warburg Pincus Asia.
