Soccer stars Michael Owen, Emile Heskey, Steven Gerrard, Sami Hyypia and Jerzy Dudek have arrived in Hong Kong for the sold-out InvestHK Football Challenge on Sunday.

They will join their teammates in the Liverpool Football Club to play an exhibition match at the HK Stadium at 3pm, against the Hong Kong national side. The match will be broadcast live on TVB Jade.

Liverpool manager Gerard Houllier said it was great to be in Hong Kong, adding that they are ready for the match and very pleased by the warm welcome they have received.

Fresh from their match against the Thai national team in Bangkok, Liverpool will play their first match in Hong Kong in 20 years.

HK Football Association president Timothy Fok said he is looking forward to seeing his favourite football stars in action on Sunday.

He said it will be an interesting match between one of Europe's biggest clubs and a Hong Kong side that are expected to put up a fight.

Director-General of InvestHK Mike Rowse was thrilled to welcome Liverpool.

"The team's arrival gives a welcome boost to Hong Kong.  It represents a real treat for local sports fans and does a tremendous amount to show the world that Hong Kong is back in business in a big way," he said.
