The results for Primary One discretionary places for September 2010 will be released November 23 by all government and aided primary schools, the Education Bureau says.
There are 41,554 children applying for discretionary places this year, of whom 20,461 will be offered a place in these schools. Of the applicants, 8,818 have siblings studying or parents working in the schools they have applied to, while the remainder have been selected according to the Points System.
Parents must bring the parent's copy of the Application Form for Primary One Admission and check the results of their application 9am to 5pm November 23 or 24 at the school they have applied for.
Registration of successful applicants should be made November 25 and 26 during school hours. Parents whose children have been offered a P1 place should note carefully the registration procedures and requirements of individual schools.
The bureau will write to parents of the applicants who fail to secure a discretionary place or who only opt for Central Allocation in mid-January to make school choices at a designated centre on January 23 or 24.
Under the P1 admission system each government or aided primary school can use 50% of its total P1 places as discretionary places. The remainder will be reserved for central allocation at a later stage.
