Average monthly salaries for middle-level managerial and professional employees recorded a year-on-year decrease of 2.6% in June, the Census & Statistics Department announced today.
After discounting the fall in consumer prices, the average monthly salaries for mid-level managerial and professional employees fell 2.4% in real terms over a year earlier.
Excluding newly recruited and promoted employees, salaries fell 1.6% in nominal terms or 1.4% in real terms.
The department's survey also found 72% of employees were entitled to profit-sharing bonuses, up on the 68% figure recorded last year.
The proportion of employees entitled to guaranteed year-end extra bonuses and housing benefits were 52% and 18%, falling from the corresponding figures of 59% and 23% in 2008.
