Mission possible: More than 1,000 high-school students are sworn in as ICAC ambassadors. |
More than 1,000 students from about 140 high schools have been sworn in as ICAC ambassadors to help spread messages concerning honesty and integrity among fellow students.
The ICAC I-Mission Ambassador Programme for Senior Secondary School Students is being introduced to offer students a wider choice of activities under the 'other learning experiences' heading in the new senior secondary school curriculum.
The "I" in I-Mission stands for three things: "I" being the students themselves who will take the lead; and involvement and integrity, which the programme encourages.
The programme encourages student ambassadors to arrange integrity-building activities which will help them sharpen their communication and organising skills, enhance their civic education learning experience and bring home the importance of adhering to positive values.
They will receive leadership and programme-planning training offered by the ICAC and other youth organisations. They will also visit the ICAC to learn first-hand about Hong Kong's anti-graft work.
Up until July, the student ambassadors will organise in their respective schools at least two of the 10 ICAC suggested activities and encourage fellow students from all levels to join. The commission will provide advice and support to the students and their schools to help organise these activities.
They include exhibitions, book reports and appreciation sessions on the highly rated "ICAC Investigators 2009" drama series, which has the potential to reach as many as 80,000 high-school students.
