A pioneer one-stop employment and training centre in Tin Shui Wai will be formed to integrate the services of various organisations to help job seekers.
In explaining measures to help job seekers living in remote areas in his 2009-10 Policy Address today, Chief Executive Donald Tsang said the Government will, on a trial basis, lend non-government organisations search terminals connected to the Labour Department's employer network and job vacancy database.
The department will also disseminate information on job vacancies and job fairs via text message to people registered with it.
In February the department formed a recruitment centre for the catering industry and given its encouraging results, it will establish a recruitment centre for the retail industry in the middle of next year.
He said the proposal to develop cultural and creative industries will provide young people not interested in formal education with an alternative to build a career with their creativity.
Meanwhile, the Commission on Youth and other organisations will strengthen moral education for young people and help them realise their full potential through arts, cultural, sports and recreational activities. Greater support will also be given to youth uniformed groups.
