The Department of Health has advised three schools to suspend classes for a week due to outbreaks of human swine influenza and flu-like illness affecting 199 students.
Twenty-four boys and 10 girls, aged six to 17, of Mary Rose School have developed a fever, sore throat, cough and runny nose since September 4. Four students tested positive to human swine flu. One girl, 15, required hospitalisation and is stable.
A total of 101 students from WF Joseph Lee Primary School in Tin Shui Wai have developed influenza-like symptoms since September 3. Twelve have human swine flu. One was admitted to a private hospital in stable condition.
Fukien Secondary School Affiliated School in Kwun Tong had an outbreak of influenza-like illness, involving 64 students.
The 40 boys and 24 girls, aged nine to 13, have developed influenza-like illness symptoms since September 7. They sought medical attention and no hospitalisation was required. They are stable.
