The Chief Executive has appointed Dr Vincent Cheng as the Chinese University of Hong Kong Council Chairman for three years from October 24.

Secretary for Education Michael Suen welcomed the appointment today saying Dr Cheng is committed to serving the community and widely recognised for his extensive and distinguished public service.

"I am confident the university will continue to scale new heights under his leadership," he said.

Mr Suen thanked outgoing chairman Dr Edgar Cheng for his contribution over the past six years.
