Internet education campaign launches
*

The Commerce & Economic Development Bureau has launched a one-year education programme in which 500 Internet Ambassadors will promote the proper use of the Internet.

Under Secretary for Commerce & Economic Development Gregory So today said the Be NetWise campaign will enhance the technical know-how and understanding of the Internet among primary and junior secondary students and their parents and teachers.

"The Internet allows us to have instant access to knowledge for our studies, work and daily lives, broadening our horizons and social circles. While we enjoy the benefits brought about by it, we should also be aware of the potential hazards in the Internet world so as to protect ourselves and those close to us from being hurt."

Under the programme, the Federation of Youth Groups and 13 other non-government organisations will hold large-scale promotional events, roving exhibitions, training courses, school talks and inter-school activities and pay home visits in the coming year. Technical support and enquiry hotline services will also be provided.
