Grades six to eight from Hong Kong International School in Southern District have been advised to suspend classes for seven days starting from today to stop the possible spread of human swine flu.

The advice was made following the outbreak of human swine flu in the school involving 32 students - 11 boys and 21 girls, aged between 10 and 14. They developed flu-like symptoms beginning on August 19.

Laboratory results confirmed that two students have been infected with the virus. All of the affected students are in stable condition. None required hospitalisation.

The department has visited the school and advised on infection control. The school is under medical surveillance.

It has also called on parents to pay attention to the health condition of their children, and to remind them to observe good personal and environmental hygiene.
