The Legislative Council has approved today $420 million in interest-free loans for post-secondary institutions to build or refurbish campuses at sites the Government allocates.
Chu Hai College of Higher Education will be granted a green field site at Tuen Mun East, and HKU SPACE Community College is allocated with the ex-premises of Kwong Yuet Tong Excel Foundation Primary School in Pok Fu Lam.
The Hong Kong College of Technology will be given the ex-premises of Ho Fai Primary School in Ma On Shan, while the ex-premises of PLK Ho To Shui Hing Primary School in Shau Kei Wan will be granted to the Hong Kong Arts School.
The Education Bureau said allocating land and vacant school premises to post-secondary education providers to reprovision existing college campuses operating in sub-optimal environment shows the Government's commitment towards enhancing the quality of post-secondary education.
The proposed land grant to Chu Hai College also shows the Government's support for the development of self-financing degree-awarding institutions, it added.
The initial term of both the land grant and the allocation of vacant school premises will be for 10 years, at nominal premium and nominal rent.
