Donald Tsang talks to job seeker
Help wanted: Chief Executive Donald Tsang visits a job fair to learn more about job seekers' needs.

Chief Executive Donald Tsang says the Government will help job seekers by collecting as much information as possible about job market vacancies and enhance its employment services.

Visiting a job fair in Tin Shui Wai today, he urged corporations to take into account their employees' needs and avoid layoffs. He also encouraged jobseekers to persevere in their work search.

Amid the financial turmoil, some corporations and companies are recruiting new staff to fill vacancies, he said. Some will even expand their businesses despite the downturn.

"The Labour Department receives about 2,000 vacancies from the private sector each working day. I am glad to learn that nearly 40 companies participated in the job fairs today and yesterday, offering more than 4,000 vacancies covering a wide variety of jobs," he said.
