Secretary for Labour & Welfare Matthew Cheung and the Labour Department have welcomed the agreement Hong Kong Airport Services' management and staff reached on the annual performance bonus today.

"Given the rapidly changing economic environment and challenges arising from the financial tsunami, it is vitally important for employers and employees to work closely together and show greater understanding in order to ride out the storm," Mr Cheung said.

He thanked the department for its conciliation efforts in the past two weeks and successfully settling the dispute.

The department urges all employers and staff to maintain good labour relations by upholding mutual understanding and frank communication, and to stand united to face the economic downturn's challenges.
