Firm dropped from holding safety courses

*
Labour Department

The Labour Department will withdraw the recognition given to Hong Kong Human Resources for running two safety-training courses and the authorisation to issue certificates for their completion from December 17.

The company has been found to have breached conditions for running the Safety Training Course for Competent Persons in Confined Spaces Operation and the Revalidation Safety Training Course for Competent Persons in Confined Spaces Operation.

The department said the company substantially changed the courses' contents in 2006 without the Commissioner for Labour's approval.

The decision will not affect the certificates issued by the company for the courses before the effective date of the withdrawal, and its other courses.

There are another 23 approved course providers running confined space competent person safety-training courses. People who need to undertake the courses can enrol in those run by these approved course providers. Click here for information on confined space courses.
