Michael Suen joins education pledge
*

Secretary for Education Michael Suen has adopted a joint ministerial statement at the fourth Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation's Education Ministerial Meeting in Peru, agreeing to enhance students' knowledge and skills to face the challenges of the 21st Century.

The pledge will ensure all students receive quality education to help bridge the wealth gap throughout the Asia-Pacific region and improve their quality of life.

The ministers agreed to enhance teacher skills and the use of new methodologies. They also acknowledged high importance should be attached to providing scientific and practical knowledge about disaster risks and integrating disaster risk reduction education into school curricula.

Mr Suen met the Brunei and Singapore education ministers after the meeting and will meet the Mainland's Ambassador in Peru, Gao Zhengyue.
