87 inmates awarded academic certificates
*

Eighty-seven inmates of Stanley Prison were today presented with a total of 102 academic certificates in public examinations, with 30 distinctions.

Two inmates have attained Bachelor of Social Sciences degrees and a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the Open University of Hong Kong.

Committee on Community Support for Rehabilitated Offenders member Lau Hon-wah said the inmates have proven capable of developing their potential as ordinary people, and their success was built on community organisations' and volunteers' guidance and support.

He encouraged them to pursue their achievements and not be complacent.
