Proprietor fined for safety breach

Hong Kong-China Concrete has been fined $80,000 by Fanling Magistracy for violating the Factories & Industrial Undertakings Ordinance.

 

The case involved a fatal accident at a Yuen Long workplace on September 18 last year. A worker was killed while working a wheel loader.

 

According to Section 6A(2)(a) of the ordinance, the proprietor must provide and maintain a system of work that is safe and without risks to employees' health.

 

Section 6A(2)(c) of the ordinance says the proprietor should provide information, instruction, training and supervision to ensure the health and work safety of the employee. 

 

The maximum penalty for both regulations is a fine of $500,000.
