Greening School Project Award winning school
Green idea: The champion of  the Large Garden Plot (Secondary School) category in the Greening School Project Award goes to Yan Chai Hospital Wong Wha San Secondary School.

Forty-one primary and secondary schools and kindergartens have been commended for their meritorious green school projects and contribution to the Green Hong Kong Campaign.

The Leisure & Cultural Services Department's Greening School Subsidy Scheme, introduced in 2000, provides cash subsidies to schools to plant more trees and flowers in campuses and to organise more green activities, through which students' interests and knowledge of greening can be enhanced. Awards are given to meritorious green school projects.

It has been well received by teachers and students, with the number of participating schools increasing every year, from around 300 in the first year to about 700 this year.

Teachers, students work towards a greener city

Community Involvement Committee in Greening member Patrick Lau said the projects are of high standard, adding both teachers and students work hard to make their schools' environment greener and more beautiful.
