Constitutional reform
*

Consensus reached on televised debate

*

An initial consensus has been reached on the arrangement for a live televised debate between Chief Executive Donald Tsang and legislator Audrey Eu on the constitutional reform package.

Produced by RTHK and moderated by Ng Ming-lam, the debate will be held on June 17, from 6.35 to 7.30pm, at the Central Government Offices New Annexe Conference Hall.

The two sides have agreed that the debate should be conducted in an orderly and dignified manner. There will be no on-site audience.

The debate will be conducted mainly in Cantonese, but part of it will be in English. Questions about the constitutional reform package will be collected from the public to be raised with the two participants.

Mr Tsang said he hoped the debate will increase public understanding of the 2012 constitutional reform package which will lay a solid foundation for universal suffrage for the Chief Executive election in 2017 and the Legislative Council election in 2020.
