Pay trend survey results released
*

The results of the 2010 Pay Trend Survey have been released and the survey committee will validate the findings on May 27.

According to the survey report, the gross pay trend indicators for the lower, middle and upper salary bands are 0.9%, 1.29% and 2.2%.

The committee will meet later to validate the gross pay trend indicators, after which the payroll cost of civil service increments incurred in 2009-10 for each defined salary band will be deducted from the gross pay trend indicators to produce the net pay trend indicators.

The payroll cost of civil service increments for lower, middle and upper salary bands incurred in 2009-10 are 0.6%, 0.73% and 0.74%.

The net pay trend indicators are one of the factors the Chief Executive-in-Council will consider in deciding whether and how to adjust civil service pay for 2010-11.

Other factors considered are the state of the economy, the Government's fiscal position, changes in the cost of living, the staff sides' pay claims and civil service morale, the Civil Service Bureau said.
