Another $5m approved for quake victims
*

A Disaster Relief Fund grant of $5 million has been approved today for World Vision Hong Kong to undertake relief projects for Qinghai earthquake victims.

The relief agency must submit an evaluation report and audited account on the grant's use after the project has been completed, to ensure the money is used for the designated purposes.

The grant is further to a $111.74 million payout made earlier for Qinghai government authorities, The Amity Foundation and The Salvation Army to provide emergency relief to Yushu quake victims. It takes the total grants for Mainland earthquake victims to $116.74 million.

This has been made possible under a fast-track mechanism for the Government to process applications from relief organisations for grants to help Qinghai victims more quickly.
