The 2010 Legislative Council by-election nomination period closed today with Returning Officers receiving a total of 26 nominations.

The final day saw six submissions received. They are Chan Yuet-tung in Hong Kong Island, Kenneth Cheung and Lam Yi-lai in Kowloon West, To Sum in Kowloon East, Li Kwai-fong in the New Territories West, and Wu Sai-chuen in the New Territories East.

The list of validly nominated candidates will be gazetted after Returning Officers have validated and confirmed the nominees' eligibility. A briefing will be held April 13 for candidates on conducting election campaigns and the electoral arrangements.

A poll will take place May 16 if there is more than one validly nominated candidate for each geographical constituency.
