HK wants electoral progress: Stephen Lam
*

Local political parties want Hong Kong to move forward in democratic terms in 2012, Secretary for Constitutional & Mainland Affairs Stephen Lam says, adding this overall direction is consistent with society's wishes.

Speaking after a forum today, he said opinion polls showed more than half of Hong Kong people consider the proposals put forth in the 2012 constitutional development consultation document to be acceptable and to be worthy of their support.

"Therefore, this provides a good basis for us to move forward. In the days and weeks ahead we will be very diligently consolidating the views received and we will see what measures we can take to improve on the package already proposed."
