*

Secretary for Financial Services & the Treasury KC Chan left for Beijing today to attend promotional events under the 13th Beijing - Hong Kong Economic Co-operation Symposium.

He will officiate and speak at the symposium's opening on October 29. The symposium aims to bolster economic and trade ties between Beijing and Hong Kong. Prof Chan will also attend the opening of the First Hong Kong Brands Exhibition.

On the same day, he will call on the Beijing Mayor Guo Jinlong, joined by prominent Hong Kong business executives.

He will also participate in the Beijing-Hong Kong Financial Services Co-operation Forum. Financial executives, government officials and market regulators from the two cities will attend and exchange views on financial industry development.

Tomorrow he will first meet Mainland finance officials and open the Hong Kong Trade Development Council's Design Gallery in Beijing. He is slated to return to Hong Kong late on October 29.
