Better planning: Secretary for Constitutional & Mainland Affairs Stephen Lam speaks at a meeting on the complementary work of the HKSAR in preparation of the National 12th Five-Year Plan.

A meeting on Hong Kong's preparatory work in complementing the formulation of the National 12th Five-Year Plan has been held in Hong Kong.

Chaired by Secretary for Constitutional & Mainland Affairs Stephen Lam, the meeting was attended by National Development & Reform Commission officials and Hong Kong & Macau Affairs Office representatives.

Their discussion focused on elevating some key elements of Hong Kong-Guangdong co-operation to the level of the National 12th Five-Year Plan through the implementation of the Outline of the Plan for the Reform & Development of the Pearl River Delta, with a view to soliciting Central Government support for the policies.

The Hong Kong Government attaches great importance to matters relating to the National 12th Five-Year Plan and has been maintaining close communication with the Central Government in taking forward the complementary work relating to the National 12th Five-Year Plan's preparation.

This helps to build an effective platform in promoting co-operation between Hong Kong and the Mainland, so the city can leverage its strengths to make timely and effective contributions to Mainland development and maintain prosperity and stability.
