76 new JPs named
*

This year's appointments of 76 Justices of the Peace were gazetted today.

 

Among them, 49 were appointed Non-official Justices of the Peace, and 27 appointed Official Justices of the Peace. Click here for the appointments list.

 

The main function of Justices of the Peace is to visit prisons, detention centres and other institutions to ensure their effective management and that no one is unfairly treated or deprived of his or her rights.

 

The Chief Executive may also require them to perform other duties.
