The nomination period for the Wan Chai District Council Canal Road Constituency by-election will run from May 5 to 18. If there is more than one validly-nominated candidate a poll will be held on June 21.

Any registered geographical constituency voter aged 21 or above who has ordinarily lived in Hong Kong for the last three years can be nominated.

A nominee must personally submit a nomination form subscribed by 10 registered voters of the constituency and an election deposit of $3,000 to the Returning Officer. Each voter is allowed to subscribe to only one nomination.
