HK team to attend UN anti-torture hearing
*

A team of Government representatives will attend a United Nations Committee Against Torture hearing in Geneva from November 7-10.

The host body monitors the Convention Against Torture & Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment.

Deputy Solicitor General James O'Neil will lead the six-member Hong Kong team, which will attend the hearing as part of the Mainland delegation. The members include officials from the Department of Justice, the Security Bureau and the Constitutional & Mainland Affairs Bureau.

During the hearing, the committee will examine the Mainland's report, which incorporates the report on Hong Kong. The team will answer questions on Hong Kong's implementation of the convention.
