The Government has opened a recruitment exercise for about 30 Administrative Officer, 150 Executive Officer II, 35 Assistant Labour Officer II and five Assistant Trade Officer II candidates for appointment on civil service terms in 2008-09. Deadline for application is September 29.
All permanent Hong Kong residents who have the required degree from a university in Hong Kong, or equivalent qualifications, or those who will obtain their final degree in summer 2009 may apply. Those applying for the Administrative Officer post should have at least seven years of residence in Hong Kong.
Applicants must obtain 'Level 2' results in the two language papers and a pass in the aptitude test in the common recruitment examination. Those who have applied for the coming exam on October 4 in Hong Kong or on November 29 in Beijing and overseas will have their applications processed subject to their obtaining the requisite results.
Qualified applicants will be invited to attend the joint recruitment exam on November 29. Overseas candidates may take the exam on the same date in Beijing or six overseas cities - London, San Francisco, New York, Toronto, Vancouver and Sydney.
Assessment of Basic Law knowledge will be included in the recruitment for all civil service jobs. The test results for degree/professional grades will be a consideration to assess a candidate's suitability but will not affect his/her eligibility.
