Vice-President Xi starts 2nd-day of visit

 

Vice-President Xi Jinping has started the second day of his Hong Kong tour by visiting the Monetary Authority to learn about the city's fiscal affairs.

 

Accompanied by Chief Executive Donald Tsang, Mr Xi was briefed by Monetary Authority Chief Executive Joseph Yam at the authority's Information Centre in Two ifc, on the evolution of Hong Kong's Linked Exchange Rate System.

Guided tour: Vice-President Xi Jinping visits the Monetary Authority, learns about Hong Kong's infrastructure projects and views the city's developments.

He also learned about banknotes in circulation in Hong Kong, their printing procedure and compared genuine with counterfeit notes.

 

Mr Xi then viewed the harbour and infrastructural changes from the building with Chief Secretary for Administration Henry Tang, Secretary for Development Carrie Lam and Secretary for Transport & Housing Eva Cheng.

 

He received an update on Hong Kong's 10 major infrastructure projects as well as development plans for the West Kowloon Cultural District and other areas around the harbour.
