Civil Service Bureau security upgrade urged
*

Secretary for the Civil Service Denise Yue has ordered the Civil Service Bureau to be more cautious in the use and safekeeping of USB memory sticks containing personal or classified information after one device went missing.

The Civil Service Bureau's Secretariat on Civil Service Discipline today apologised to 25 civil servants whose names and titles were stored in a USB memory stick that was lost last week.

The stick contains information on two disciplinary inquiries on alleged misconduct by two civil servants. No personal information on any member of the public was stored in it.

The case has been reported to Police and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data.

Miss Yue reminded staff to observe security regulations at all times.
