Chief Executive Donald Tsang hopes Mainland snowstorm victims recover soon and have an enjoyable, warm and happy Lunar New Year.

Speaking to reporters after visiting the Lunar New Year Fair in Victoria Park this afternoon, Mr Tsang said he was pleased to learn lawmakers have supported the Government's proposal to donate $210 million to three provinces devastated by recent snowstorms.

"I really hope our brothers and sisters on the Mainland recover quickly and have a very enjoyable, warm and happy Lunar New Year with us."

Mr Tsang said there are lots of things to be happy about in Hong Kong.

"The economy is generally well but we still have lots of poor people we need to look after. Whatever station of life they are, I hope they will have a very happy and contented Lunar New Year celebration with all the family members sitting together."

In response to the release of jailed veteran journalist Ching Cheong, Mr Tsang said he felt happy for him and wished him and his family well.
