Arts council polling to start
*

Voters are urged to submit their nominations for the 2007 Arts Development Council nomination exercise September 28 to 30.

The Home Affairs Bureau said 7,029 voters have registered this year, up 32% on 2004.

Polling will take place 9am to 9pm at the Heritage Discovery Centre, Kowloon Park.

A cross-interest voting system will be adopted. Voters from all 10 arts interests can cast votes for candidates standing for nomination in the six contested areas - arts criticism, dance, literary arts, music, visual arts and Chinese opera.

As there is only one candidate standing for nomination in arts administration, arts education, and drama and film arts, there will be no polling for these.

A list of representatives will be submitted to the Chief Executive for consideration for the next term from January 1.
