Council chief: Prof Anthony Cheung has been named Consumer Council Chairman for two years from July 13.

The Chief Executive has appointed Prof Anthony Cheung as Consumer Council Chairman for two years from July 13. He has rich and extensive experience in public service and has served on the council since January 1, 2002.

Prof Cheung is a professor at City University, in the Department of Public & Social Administration. He has provided sound advice and support for the council's work.

With his extensive experience in public service and enthusiasm in consumer-protection work, the Commerce & Economic Development Bureau said Mr Cheung will provide able leadership and guidance to the council in the coming two years.

The bureau also thanked former council chairman Prof Chan Ka-keung, who has assumed the post of Secretary for Financial Services & the Treasury, for his invaluable contribution to the council's work.
