Two grants of $2 million each from the Disaster Relief Fund have been approved for the Salvation Army and World Vision Hong Kong to bring emergency relief to earthquake victims in Yunnan Province.
To ensure the money is used properly, the fund's advisory committee will ask the groups to submit evaluation reports and audited accounts after the projects have been completed.
In view of the recent flooding in southern parts of the Mainland causing widespread loss of life and property, the Government is liaising with relief organisations to mount aid programmes to help these victims also.
