Ballot paper particulars deadline June 18
*

People wanting their personal particulars printed on ballot papers for the District Council election this year should submit their applications to the Electoral Affairs Commission by June 18.

The Particulars Relating to Candidates on Ballot Papers (Legislative Council) (Amendment) Regulation 2007 comes into operation today.

With the extension of the arrangement for the District Council elections, candidates can apply to the commission during the nomination period to have certain specified particulars printed on ballot papers. These include names, name abbreviations and the emblems of prescribed bodies, the personal emblems and photographs of the candidates, as well as the words "independent candidate" or "non-affiliated candidate".

Names, abbreviations and the emblems of prescribed bodies, and personal emblems, first need to be registered with the commission. Any applications or objections made by June 18 will be processed within the registration cycle for the election.

Applicants can check here for their registered particulars. Application forms can be obtained at the Registration & Electoral Office and District Offices, or downloaded from the commission website. For enquiries call 2891 1001.
