Taiwan people, through the successful implementation of One Country, Two Systems in Hong Kong, will understand that reunification can clear up future political uncertainties and create opportunities for new development, Secretary for Constitutional Affairs Stephen Lam says.

Speaking at the Hong Kong-Taiwan Youth Exchange Promotion Association 5th anniversary celebration, Mr Lam said over the years, the community and the Taiwanese have been concerned about Taiwan's economic restructuring, and hope to broaden their scope of activity on the international front.

Mr Lam hoped Taiwan will promote the implementation of the Three Links - direct postal, transportation and trade - and support reunification.

On whether the implementation of the Three Links would be detrimental to the Hong Kong economy, Mr Lam said if Taiwan enterprises can increase their investments on the Mainland, and Mainland enterprises can invest in Taiwan, eventually more enterprises will seek to get listed in the Hong Kong stock market. This will be beneficial to the Mainland, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, he said.
