Anne Carver, Felix Chan, Paddy Lui and Edith Shih have been appointed members of the Standing Committee on Company Law Reform for one year from February 1.
Incumbent Chairman Benjamin Yu and non-official members Teresa Ko, Godfrey Lam, John Poon, David Stannard, Vanessa Stott, Carlson Tong, Paul Winkelmann and Patrick Wong have been reappointed for two years from February 1. Michael Scales has also been reappointed as a member for one year.
The Financial Services & the Treasury Bureau said this is essential to maintain Hong Kong's position as an international business and financial centre underpinned by company law of an international standard and responsive to the needs of the business community.
With the professional background and expertise of its members, the committee will provide valuable advice to the Government, particularly on matters relating to the rewrite of the Companies Ordinance, the bureau said.
